Dora The Explorer Is Being Sued For Vaping

I have never been a big fan of Dora The Explorer.  The constant yelling always drove me around the bend. I once pondered whether Dora’s parents got so tired of telling her to use her inside voice that they sent her off to live in the woods with a monkey.

I’ve never watched the newest iteration of Dora, where she’s older, so I don’t know if she’s learned to modulate her voice at all. If she does have more dulcet tones now, it may be because the actress who voices Dora vapes. Not only that — she gets other kids in trouble for vaping with her.

In an exceedingly weird story, parents of an unnamed 14-year-old girl filed a suit against Avenues: The World School, a private school in New York City, after their daughter was caught vaping in the bathroom with Fatima Ptacek, the voice of Dora. The girls later confessed to vaping caramel-flavored water after being ratted out by another student. The younger girl, identified only as M.S., claims she only did it to impress Ptacek, who is older and a celebrity.

The suit alleges that the girl who told on the vapers received no punishment at all. Ptacek (AKA Dora) was suspended, but M.S. was expelled. M.S.’s parents are asking for their daughter to be allowed to return to school plus $40,000 in damages. The school says the reason for the unequal punishment was that M.S. was “untrustworthy.”

Yeah. We’re sure that’s it. It has nothing to do with Ptacek being a celebrity who can summon monkeys to do her bidding with the power of her voice. That has nothing to do with anything.
