Latest Jawbone Bracelet Is A Fitness Tracker And A Credit Card In One

How many times have you been slogging through your 30 minutes on the treadmill and thought, "Man, I wish I was shopping right now?" All the time, right? Luckily for you, a new update from Jawbone fitness-tracking bracelets is poised to seamlessly combine the two favorite activities of Real Housewives cast members by letting you buy things while working out—with a tap of your bracelet.

The new accessory is called the UP4, and though the concept might sound like a ridiculous way for shopping addicts to get a hit at the gym, it's actually a really cool little mobile payment system. Using Near Field Communication, the bracelet can be scanned to make payments like a credit card. Most people who use Jawbone bracelets wear them all day to track steps and calories burned; now, they'll be able to have access to a form of payment anytime, anywhere, whether or not they have their wallet with them.

I'm genuinely stoked about the idea of never having to awkwardly stuff money in my sports bra the next time I need to stop at the store after a run. Because digging a handful of sweaty bills out of your cleavage to pay for a loaf of bread is not nearly as sexy as it sounds.

The downsides? While the UP4 is cheaper than the Apple Watch, it's still not cheap—the device will retail for $199—and as of right now, the payment system is exclusively available for American Express members. But I imagine more options will open up soon.
