Suffering is America’s favorite thing to do. We starve ourselves to lose weight, and we’re a success story. We don’t sleep, and we’re just getting SO MUCH DONE. We do a thousand things a day and involve our kids in a thousand activities, because somehow, in some perverted way, that makes us successful.

March 8th is International Women's Day and what better way to celebrate than with these divine goddesses. Samsung? iPhone? Mac? PC?

When I was first diagnosed with anorexia ten years ago, I vaguely knew that eating disorders were a feminist issue.

When my son was little, I used to let him win board games a lot.

For me, feminism felt like finding a beautiful shoe in the wrong size. No matter how much I strained, it never seemed to be a perfect fit. I found my size in womanism.

In my rebel Catholicism, and the Catholicism that I see so many other Latinx people practice, faith and cynicism are dancing partners that invent their own steps.

I wasn’t always a witch. Or a feminist.
